Because the water can remain free of harsh chemicals, it can also be repurposed for lawns and plants where appropriate. We know fresh water for every soak isn’t practical for everyone, so for those looking to extend the life of their water, we recommend a non-toxic water-care alternative to traditional chlorine.

For those looking to get a few more soaks from the same water, we recommend treating it rather than relying on untreated standing water. Pacific Soak tubs are soaking vessels—not conventional hot tubs—and our approach favors simple water care that minimizes unnecessary additives and allows water to be responsibly repurposed when possible.

Hydrogen peroxide–based water treatment can be one option when used at a concentration and dosage specifically formulated for recreational water. As it breaks down, hydrogen peroxide ultimately forms water and oxygen, avoiding chlorinated byproducts. Concentrated hydrogen peroxide, including 35% solutions, can cause serious burns and should not be handled or dosed without appropriate safety guidance, so we recommend following the treatment manufacturer’s instructions rather than publishing a universal dosage.

Copper-and-silver ion systems are another option designed to help control microorganisms in recreational water. These are different from simply placing a strip of copper in the tub, which should not be relied upon to sanitize the water. Whatever system you choose, regular water changes and appropriate water testing remain important parts of keeping your soak clean and safe.

Pressure washing is an effective way to remove stubborn buildup from both the interior and exterior of your Pacific Soak. Our tubs are built to spend their lives outdoors, where exposure to the elements—and a little participation from nature—is part of the experience. Here in the Pacific Northwest, that can mean moss, organic buildup, and the occasional weathering of the surface.

The concrete is strong enough to handle pressure washing, but we recommend keeping pressure at or below 2,000 PSI and maintaining a safe distance between the nozzle and the tub. Excessive pressure or spraying too close to the surface can etch the concrete, leaving visible lines or marks. While this won’t affect the tub’s performance or structural integrity, pressure-washing damage to the finish is considered normal wear and is not covered under warranty.

Between soaks, a bucket of warm, soapy water and a brush are often all you need. Give the interior—and exterior when needed—a good scrub to loosen dirt, residue, or organic buildup and keep the tub feeling fresh. It’s our preferred method for routine cleaning and a gentler alternative to pressure washing, with no risk of etching the concrete finish.
